Are these symptoms? So confusing, jeesh!

Hello, recently I engaged in oral sex with someone I am dating (I am female). Several weeks before this took place, the person was complaining of dry skin/cracking around the side of their mouth (not a sore but rather what looks to be that dry skin people often get where their lips meet, from drooling in their sleep). By the time I received oral sex, that had gone away. However, 1-2 days after receiving oral, I had a lot of yellow spots on my tonsils and became very lethargic with a lot of malaise. I saw an ear nose and throat doctor and was diagnosed with tonsillitis. It was left for a while, but I continued to fell horrible so I was given a 3 day round of Zithromax. Within the first 24 hours, I felt almost 100% better. HOWEVER, in addition to the tonsillitis, I also got what I believe to be a yeast infection (just like any other yeast infection I had - white 'chunky (for lack of a less disgusting word)' discharge with no odor and itching). I have an appointment with my gyno soon but because I have had frequent yeast infections, I was given Diflucan. I took two doses, as that's normally what I have to do. The discharge is gone for the most part and the itching is gone (for the most part) as well, however now I have more itching around my anal area.  I have checked and there is no discharge or inflammation.   I know the symptoms are pretty general, but I had read that these may be symptoms of HSV and cervical HSV can often be mistaken with a yeast infection.  If it WAS a yeast infection, I'm sure the antibiotics didn't help the process of getting rid of it and I am aware that may be while I still have itching/it could have spread to the anal region.  I do not have any sores.  It has been nearly 3 weeks since the oral sex took place.    STD symptoms are always so all over the place, that it's hard to figure out and know hwo to be realistic. Honestly, I know that  I could read that these symptoms would be somewhat indicative of any STD out there which is why I prefer to speak to actual educated people, rather than continue to freak myself out by pulling up things that can be so easily misunderstood via the internet!

Any thoughts are much appreciated.  Thank you.

getting properly tested for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally at this point is the best course of action. even if you get what is typical of vaginal yeast for you symptoms before you are seen again, don't treat them - wait and get a proper work up.

does it sound like you have genital herpes? no it doesn't but certainly properly test at some point.

protected oral sex helps reduce vaginitis issues if you are prone to them.

Hi Grace,
No, I was not tested for those symptoms. That appointment is next week. I couldn't get in and explained the symptoms to the nurse and because I do have frequent yeast infections and these symptoms were the same as my yeast infections (vaginal symptoms) , I was given Diflucan until I'm able to be seen this coming week.  I was seen for the Tonsillitis. My symptoms have been very mild. I didn't have profuse discharge or itching nor was the tonsillitis very bad by any means.  I HAVE had a yeast infection after oral before. I am sensitive in that area and I know that receiving oral sex for an extended period of time doesn't agree with my system too well.

Just wondering what the chances are/if these symptoms sound like herpes or another STD so I can somewhat lknow what to expect.  My partner has been tested in the middle of their last relationship, but since then has not been tested and has not been sexually active with anyone else (but is getting tested next week as well).

Thanks so much for your response :)

so were you seen at all for your symptoms genitally/anally?

oh definitely get tested for herpes at some point with a type specific herpes igg blood test. it's part of being sexually responsible and you have to know your own status in order to decide together with a partner what precautions to take.  A lack of symptoms is meaningless for both oral and genital herpes.

(Oh-Additionally, last time I was tested for STDs via bloodwork, my previous gyno was asking what I wanted to be tested for and said that herpes probably isn't necessary because I'd experience symptoms, so I don't thikn I've ever been tested for it!-Granted, I have not ever engaged in insertive penile/vaginal sex and have only engaged in oral sex with very few, monogamous partners).
