Atypical Symptoms

I have been suffering from a continuous outbreak for several years with no relief in sight. The pain that I experience in my legs is unbearable at times but I have learned to live with it. I have explained my issue to my GYN however she cannot seem to come up with any answers for me. Each time I have a gyn exam there is never any lesions present but I am always having the symptoms. My PCP has tested me for HIV, Lupus, Lymes Disease, Syphilis etc...  and they have all come back negative. I am currently taking Acyclovir and Lyrica to no avail. I recently saw a neurologist and he has prescribed cymbalta however I have not started to take it yet. I have had the virus since I was 17 years old and it was not until a few years ago that it totally got out of control. I am at my wits end depressed and very suicidal because I cannot have any type of intimate relationship at this point. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to get the virus back under control?

Doesn't sound like it's your herpes.

The Cymbalta sounds like it could be the appropriate med for you: it's an SNRI used to treat major depressive disorder. Maybe once you get your functional symptoms under control, you'll start feeling better.

I agree with the above poster.  Start taking the cymbalta to get your depression under control.  Herpes doesn't last "continuously".
Good luck.
