Best test for genital herpes?

I'm sick of worrying about this. I can't stop. I have no signs or symptoms but I read you can have it even with no symptoms. I've been with the same partner for a year and a half now, both completely devoted, frequent sex with no symptoms for either of us. But the "what if" is killing me inside. So, I sort of just, want to find out. Hope I don't regret this.

However, I don't have insurance until Jan next yr, so I'm thinking I need to go to some sort of clinic. I don't know how reliable clinic's tests are though. I hear those igg/igm tests aren't very reliable.

ANY specific test I should ask for? I was hoping to just get a hsv-2 test done to save on costs seeing as how I don't have too much money to be spending on this. I need it to be affordable and pretty accurate. Obviously some sort of blood test, correct?  & Do any of you kow what the prices are for these type of things?

Please help me! ALL of your advice and time is VERY appreciated.

Usually there are free clinics in your near by area that will preform free std screening (including blood work) at no cost. I dont know if they do IgG or only IgM testing, but it doesnt hurt to go in and ask. You want an IgG specific test this will tell u if u have either HSV-1 or 2. IgM just indicates the presence of herpes antibodies in general but can be faulty and create false negatives and positives.
