Blisters in Throat is it Herpes 1?

Hello,

I get cold sores around my lips occasionally and have tested positive for herpes type 1 (the cold sore virus). Two days ago I felt like I was getting a sore throat. I feel like I had something in the back of my throat and it hurts a little to swallow. This morning I looked at the back of my throat and saw what likes like a cluster of small bumps or possibly blisters in the back of the throat, is also red and slightly irritated around the area. Now I'm worried, last night I had oral sex with husband. Is it possible this is a cold sore outbreak and could I have infected him by giving him oral sex? I have never had cold sores in the mouth only on the lips and did not think it was possible to get them in the back of throat. I also have allergies and a lot of post nasal drip. I'm hoping my throat is only irritated from having a constant runny nose. Any help would be great thanks.

it's unlikely that you'd have hsv1 appearing in the throat with a well established oral infection. things like that tend to occur with newly acquired infections, not with recurrences.

I totally 2nd mistakeguy's advice - go and be seen and get a proper work up done to find out what is going on.

HSV type 1 and HSV type 2 are both capable of causing "cold sores".

This is more than likey strep throat.  Be seen by your provider for a proper work up.
