How far of a risk am I at? I have never had herpes before and no outbreaks. If the active cold sore made contact with the unprotected skin then you were at risk. The risk is moderate. Still most exposures like this don't lead to transmission. If you do not get a primary outbreak 3-14 days after exposure then your probably out of the woods.
