Bumps on inner thigh

About 3 weeks ago, I noticed a cluster of 4 bumps on my inner thigh where my thigh and groin meet about halfway down between my waist and scrotum.  The bumps are hard and are red.  They have never itched or burned.  I actually didn't notice them.  My wife was the one who noticed them.  I had a doctors appt the next week, so I had him check them.  He said that he wasn't sure what it was.  I asked about Herpes, and he said that Herpes blisters have more of a yellow color than what my bumps have, and also the fact that they don't itch, burn, or hurt doesn't sound like Herpes.  He gave me a prescription for a fungal/steriod cream.  He told me to use it for 10 to 14 days and that if it didn't get better, then to come back in and he would refer me to a dermatologist.  When I got home I was trimming my pubic area so hair would not be in the way of the application of the cream and I noticed a larger bump about 2 inches above my penis on the same side as the other bumps.  It is about the size of a normal pimple.  I applied the cream the doctor gave me and the bumps didn't decrease.  It doesn't look like they have done much of anything.  They have not gotten any bigger and there are no new bumps.

Does anyone have any ideas of what this could be?  Does it sound like Herpes?  Like I said, the bumps have never hurt, itched, or burned.  I have tried calling my doctor back to schedule an appointment, but he is on vacation until the start of the year.  I am freaked out by this.  I would appreciate any help or suggestions.

when you freeze the skin, you kill it. it goes through the healing process and falls off like a scab on your knee eventually does.

molluscum is a virus. it's similar to warts.  just getting rid of the obvious symptoms isn't getting rid of the virus totally. The body will do that on its own over the course of a couple of months.  some folks get a once and done ob of symptoms while others can have multiple recurrences of it.

Thanks for the help.  I just wanted to make sure that the way they were reacting wasn't strange.

So they actually fall off?  I thought that they just shrink.  He didn't really go over that.  He just said that if they aren't gone in a couple of weeks to come back & he will repeat.  What would be the reason that it wouldn't get rid of them the first time?

yes they do. this is normal.  they get "icky" looking and then fall off in a few days if it was effective.  ( how's that for medical terminology? he he he )

Thanks for the info.

By the way, do the bumps normally react the way I described when they are sprayed?

Thanks.

your provider already told you how long to expect to wait to see if the bumps go away.

you can check out the ashastd.org website for more info on molluscum or also the cdc website.

I went to the dermatologist today and was diagnosed with Molluscum for the bumps on my thigh I discussed in my previous message.  Molluscum is completely new to me.  I have never heard of it until yesterday.  The dermatologist sprayed the bumps to freeze them.  He said that it helps speed up the healing.  Now the bumps are really red and they look like they have grown a little, but that just may be my imagination.

How soon can I expect the bumps to go away?  He told me that if they weren't gone in 2 weeks to come back in and he would freeze them again.  He said everyone reacts differently to the spray so there is a chance I would need more than one treatment.  Does this sound right?  Also, would bumps looked irritated and possibly increase in size a little after the spray?

Thanks.

The haven't itches or hurt at all.  And they definitely haven't changed.  Does it sound like any type of STD to you?  What about Molluscum?  I had never heard of that until I got onto this forum.  Thanks for all your help.

herpes is going to itch or hurt. they won't be painless. they also won't go unchanged for this long.

Sorry for the impatience.  I am new to this forum & I  just really nervous about what this may be.  I know you can't really diagnose without seeing, but you what is the reason you don't think it sounds like herpes?  I guess I would be a little less nervous if the cluster of bumps wasn't present.

please be patient! this forum is all volunteer and most folks are busy with the holiday season.

this doesn't sound at all like herpes going on.

at this point follow up with a dermatologist for a consult since the cream doesn't seem to be helping at all.
