I tested positive 1.9 on the HSV I/II IgG Rflx I-II Type Spec test
Negative on each of the individual HSV 1 IgG Type Spec and HSV 2 IgG Type Spec tests.........
Any idea what this means?....even the two doctors I talked to seem to be confused how the combination test is positive ans the two individual tests are both negative.
The combination test you had done is not a good test. It is frequently falsely positive. The follow up testing you had done that was type specific is the results you want to go with.

Confused like many of you:(
I had a hsv1 igG type spec blood test which was NEG
I also had a hsv2 igG type spec blood test which was NEG
BUT I then there was a combined test called- hsv 1 & 2 igG Rrflx 1-2 type sp which read 5.7 HIGH indicating a POSITIVE result.
What does it mean? My doc seemed as though it was from a previous infection or another health problem. I have never had a cold sore/or gential (genital) sore and I am in my late 30's. The reason I had this test is because I want to get pregnant.
