I have been diagnosed with HSV2 seven years before and the symptoms have reduced considerably. Now i'm in a relationship. Can I kiss him on the mouth and give him oral sex
Hi, generally oral herpes is caused by the HSV‐1 virus, and genital herpes
is mainly caused due to HSV‐2 virus. Over the past decade this has changed, mainly due to oral sex
. This is probably the main reason why oral herpes can result from either the HSV‐1 or the HSV‐2 virus. Similarly, genital herpes can be the result of either of these two herpes viruses. It is the site where the virus invades and hides that determines whether one gets oral or genital herpes. If the virus ends up in the trigeminal
, the sufferer gets oral herpes. If the virus ends up in the lumbosacral ganglia at the base of the spine, genital herpes results. Coming into contact with someone who has been infected with genital Herpes could also pass on the virus through kissing.
"Coming into contact with someone who has been infected with genital Herpes could also pass on the virus through kissing."
This is incorrect. A person who has genital herpes can only transmit the virus from the genital area, NOT from kissing. It's not a systemic illness but in fact is only transmitted form the area infected.
yes you can get hsv2 in either location however hsv2 still prefers the genital area over the oral area. the rates of infection with hsv2 orally really have not changed.
