Can I catch genital herpes during oral sex

Hi my girlfriend had genital herpes but we haven't yet had sex. I'm seeking help so that I know the dos and donts of this situation. She told me I wouldn't be able to perform oral sex on her but we would be able to kiss, rub our viginas together, I can finger her and she can perform oral sex on me. Is this true. What are some way I can prevent from getting herpes from her
