Hi, I recently contracted what I believe to be genital herpes hsv-1 from someone performing oral on me. I know there is a difference between hsv-2 and hsv-1 in transmission rates and outbreaks. I have been told there are less outbreaks with hsv-1 and that I is less likely to transmit it to someone genitally?
I was wondering what anyone can tell me because it would really help to know the facts.
the herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com is filled with terrific information on genital herpes , transmission rates and how to reduce transmission to a partner. if you haven't read it yet, be sure to take the time to do so. It's free.
I have not had any testing done to figure out exactly what virus I have because when I was diagnosed the doctor did a visualVisual acuity test diagnosis and never ran any tests at all.
At this point then you and your partner both need to go and get type specific herpes igg blood tests to see who has what. Assume nothing and start out at least with seeing if hsv1 is the only herpes simplex virus in this relationship.
what testing have you ahd done so far?
