In 2004 a new girlfriend and I were tested for a full range of STD's. I tested very close to (but not in) the positive range for HSV II using the IgG test. We were going to get a Western Blot, however, my Urologist asked if I had ever had Mononucleosis, which I did as at age 14. He said the Mono could have been the cause of my high result/ratio, so we did not bother with the Western Blot Can an old case of Mono, cause a false positive on an HSV II test done using IgG? My new girlfriend (an ARNP), is concerned and is recommending the newer POCkit test instead of Western Blot, just to be sure.
