Can anitvirals cause the persistent itching?

I am struggling with constant itching. At one point I stopped taking suppressive therapy for a bit, and the itching stopped! An OB got me back on therapy again. I wanted to try to get off once and for all, so over 5 months, I endured recurring OBs. The good part was when they would heal, I would feel 100% normal again for the first time in forever. I'd get another one, but in between was heavenly! No constant itching!! I started dating someone new, so I felt I needed to do my best for him and started on suppression again. Lo and behold, the constant, non-stop, drive me nuts itching is back. I don't have OBs, but I wake myself up at night scratching like crazy. I twist in my chair at work. It's sooooo annoying! And constant! I can't ever forget about HSV and have a normal day!! My question is, does this happen to others? Does it mean I'm constantly contagious, or does the lack of an OB mean I'm safe but just itchy? Is there something to counteract the itch?
