Can herpes act like shingles?

I found out i had shingles when i as pregnant but wasnt given much info on it i looked up stuff but cant seem to find the answers to any of my questions.  First of all i'm a 24 year old healthy female.  I would like to know why i get so many recurrent outbreaks of shingles?  The 2 places i get it are on my right wrist and the back of my left thigh right above my knee and hen i et it there the after pain is so bad but anyways i always see that if it comes back several times it may be tied into herpes.  What does that mean?  Can you break it down does that mean if i get recurrent outbreaks of shingles i also have herpes or does that mean these are really herpes sores coming?  pls help!

Well when i as 19 i had a rash on `my left thigh right above the knee and i didnt know what it was i heard it could be staph but then it went away so i didnt worry about it but i noticed it left a slighty darker pigment there and i remember after it was gone the spot would hurt sometimes but i thought i was imagining the pain. The next time i got a rash like that i was 21 so at first i didnt connect the 2.  I was pregnant and i got an itchy rash on my right wrist it started as a red spot then when i scratched it turned into red bumps that looked like ant bites and as soon as hours later those bumps turned into blisters. I thought it was a spider bite so i went to the er and the dr poped the bumps and gave me an antibiotic and it wwent away but scarred my wrist.  after that It came back on my thigh in the same spot during this same pregnancy and my mother looked on the internet and read about shingles and i had all the symtoms especially because i never get the rash on both sides of my body at the same time if i get it on the right side it is on my wwrist and if i get it on my left side it is on my thigh this shingles has happened to me several times more to even count.  im getting them now and my left leg has a tingling burning sensation down my entire leg it hurts so bad and thats a sign of shingles but why do i get them so much the only health problem i have is that im overweight but that shouldnt lower my immune system that much

shingles doesn't reoccur. if you are getting shingles like symptoms more than once, you need to follow up on them properly with a dermatologist.

shingles during pregnancy isn't unusual at all.  shingles reoccurring more than once is.  Definitely time for a further work up. the thigh rash might indeed be genital herpes reoccurring but also reoccurring on the wrist too would be unusual.

odds are you weren't tested for herpes during pregnancy at all. might be worthwhile for you and your partner to get tested for herpes to see who has what before the dermatology appointment too.

Hi

Who diagnosed you with shingles?    24 year olds usally don't get shingles.   Shingles and herpes are completely seperate things.   If you have one or the other it doesn't mean you will get the other.

Singles outbreak is due to low immunity that's why mainly senior citizen's get shingles.
Finally you generally get herpes sores/lesion on your lips and  gentials/anus.

If you think you have herpes you get tested for it, igg HSV-2 and igg HSV-1
