Can herpes be transmitted through a blood transfusion?

A friend of mine told me that he got some blood of a man with herpes into his system. It seems logical that herpes would be transmitted that way, but all I've read is that it's transmitted through skin-to-skin contact. He wouldn't give me any specifics about the incident, and he's afraid to get tested.
Also, if it can be transmitted this way, what are the chances that it has been? Is it very high?

No, you won't get it that way.  Herpes is not a blood borne pathogen.

Whatever the incident was, he DOES need to see a doc.  He could HIV, or hepatitis b or c from this.
