Can herpes cause sore area between anus and scrotum?

I am having a sore area next to my anus, it's a 2-3cm red line towards my scrotum, swollen and itchy. I have herpes since several years with typical symptoms on my penis and got medication and creams to heal... this situation is very occasional. I would like to know whether herpes may cause such soreness. Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your comments and enlighten me on this disturbing situation. My doctor prescribed me Zovirax cream which I will apply on these sores. I hope this will help them disappear for now. Knowing herpes, I would expect them to return but I will be prepared that time. Thanks again.

It's absolutely possible to have that specific area be infected or show herpes sores from the virus.

Just because you contracted it let's say on the penis, it does not mean the virus will show up solely on the penis or origin of the first outbreak.

The virus travels through nerves and at times present itself anywhere on the boxer short region.
