Can herpes values drop?

In March 2014 I had protected sex with my cousins best friend. I didn't have any real issue until I used Monistat a week later.I tested (+) (the value was 1.3?) for HSV2 after I had cut myself in the shower in November 2015. I told the guy and he assured me he didn't have it, I asked him to prove it and well he did. He's negative. Before I got tested I began a relationship and had not been using protection and he was and still is (-). He encouraged me to get retested so that following year I did and the test was equivocal. Well I know that equivocal has go be a certain value so that wouldn't that mean the value lowered from before? Is this a normal thing, or cause for me to dispute the positive test? I ask because I gave birth to my baby Feburary 2017 asked for a test and this test was positive. My child's father (new guy) and I have been together almost three years he gets tested he's negative. Another question does herpes bumps have hairs inside of them? I plan on talking to a dermatologist as soon as I start my job since I don't have insurance. I'm also considering a western blot but again would herpes values just jump all over the place like this?

Herpes lesions don't have hair in them. Do you get cold sores?
Hsv2 tests are very sensitive and can pick up hsv1 antibodies or odd protiens of the same weight. This is why any number under a 3.5 is suspect for a false positive. 50/50 chance it's a false positive. In your case im betting that's the case. Think of the numeric value as a confidence number. The higher the number the more sure the test is that it saw the antibodies. At a 1.3 it has no confidence at all. You can call get a western blot from the universaty of washington. This will sort it out.

Thanks for your response. I don't get cold sores & never had any. I plan on ordering one asap. The recent test I didn't receive the values nor do I know if it came from the culture. But I was just confused a to how I could go from a (+) to equivocal back to (+)

Smart move. Im betting on a negative result. Please keep me posted. When you get the results start a new thread so it will be at the top. I wish you the best.
