Can shingles cause a "positve" test for HSV2?
I recently had PCR assay for HSV1 and HSV2.  The test came back as HSV2 "detected".  Can shingles cause this type of result?

I pose this question because every doctor that has seen me during symptoms/outbreak said they don't think it is HSV2 based on it's appearance and symptoms.

Thank you in advance for any information you can share.

Yes.  I had to convince a doctor to scrap the skin to cause the bump to bleed/open.  He was confident because of it's appearance and my symptoms it wasn't genital herpes.  I had to persuade him to give me a script for an antiviral.
