Can someone please give me info?!?!?!??!?!?!?

Okay, so since Dec. of 08. When I received oral, I've been very anxious and paranoid. My cousin who is a doctor said herpes blood tests aren't very accurate. The only 100% positive way to know if you have genital herpes, is to wait for an outbreak. I've been waiting ever since and I need to put an end to this nonsense. My questions are:

How long would it take for herpes to show up on the genitals (in men)?

Can genital herpes be present without any symptoms? (swollen lymph node, fever, etc..)

Can genital herpes be painless?

Where do they most often appear?

I need some solid info because this anxiety is messing up my life!!!

A one time encounter of oral sex is an extremely low risk for contracting herpes. Your anxiety is more the issue here. Let it go. If this anxiety is "messing up your life", then speak to a counselor or your doctor about the anxiety, not herpes.

To answer your one question though, symptoms typically appear 2-20 days after transmission of the virus. I know for me it was about 4 days. Oh, and it took 5 long years for me to even become infected from my partner through very frequent oral sex (he has HSV-1 orally, and now I have it genitally).

At the end of the day, anybody can find out their herpes status by getting an IgG type specific blood test.
