Can someone please tell me if I'm right about my understanding of HSV1 and HSV2

From my understanding, through nurses, others with herpes and online research HSV1 and HSV2 can not be interchangeble. Meaning that if someone was diagnosed with HSV2 which is usually found genitally , can that one person who has HSV2 transmit the genital virus to oral location. Such as if someone were to have oral sex with that person who knows for sure they have genital herpes, could that person transmit it to their partner orally who has never been exposed to herpes. In other words if you have genital herpes can it be transmitted orally and vice versa? I've read that HSV1 can be transmitted orally.  I've asked this question before to a nurse about "if HSV2 can be transmitted orally during oral sex" and I was given the answer no. I'm really looking for expert advice or any experience with the situation.
