Thank you grace
i will do that
Valtrex for 2 weeks prior to testing would not cause a negative on the blood tests.
I'd stop the valtrex at this point. I'd seek out a herpes WB blood test 16 weeks post encounter if at all possible. Be seen when you have symptoms for an exam and if they see anything that looks like a herpes lesion, they should swab it.
Hi gracefromhhp
I do not have a regular partner. I had an encounter with an exboyfriend (who Then told had hsv2) the synptoms started about 10 days post encounter. I started with tingles in my tights, then pelvic pain, and feeling of stabs. I took my igg test at 9 weeks post encounter and it came back 2.13 positive. By then the feeling of pelvic pain was getting more intense as well at the feelings of stabs. I never had an actual breakout since I started on valtrex right away after my positive result. After taking valtrex my symptoms got milder but I will still feel a bit of discomfort and pelvic pain. Everyone I talked to said my symptoms were not typical hsv2, so I decided to take another std panel test to make sure I didn't have something else. I had been on valtrex for 2 weeks by now. Then my results came back hsv2 negative igg 0.18
Now I am confused I'm not sure if I have hsv2 or not.
Your first hsv2 igg was within the low positive range so it might not have been accurate. How long prior to your symptoms had you last had sex? do you have a regular partner?
Thank you so much for your response, I do have Hsv1 it has been positive I. Both exams with a value of 5.0
Hi, no, taking that will not turn a positive into a negative but having hsv1 oral could cross react and cause a false postive for hsv2 that you just had.
