Can't seem to get it to go away after months of Acyclovir

Have had many trouble free years until now.  I have been taking different doses of Acyclovir over the past 2 months to get control of the virus and it gets better but does not go away completely.  Should I switch meds?  Would it be harmful to just increase the dosage of Acyclovir for a longer period as it's recommended for just 10 days.

These are the recommended dosages. Talk to your doctor about the advantages of switching. Valtrex is also approved to to reduce transmission of genital herpes from an infected person to an uninfected one.

Taking 400mg x daily when it appeared gone. 400mg 3x daily for 10 days when outbreak. 10 days are up and it's not going away.  Should I just stay on the increased dosage longer, increase to 5xdaily or switch to Valtrex?

Hi the recommended dosage per terri warren the expert here would be below:
Recurrences: 400 mg three times a day for 5 days or 800 mg three times a day for two days.

Suppression: 400 mg twice a day every day.
What dosage are you taking?
