Cervicitis

Have you ever seen a case of cervicitis caused by hsv?  Can cervicitis caused by hsv not show lesions on the cervix but be contagious?

also, if i am taking acyclovir, am I still able to infect a partner even after being on it for about 5 days?  I have had hsv2 for about 10 years now.

Herpes usually is not the cause of cervicitis.

did your provider send off cultures to try to determine the cause?

If you are infectd with herpes , you are capable of transmitting, regardless of where your lesions are.

Thank you.  No, he did not send off cultures.  He saw the area where I had a leep and automatically diagnosed me with cervicitis since I had not had sex within a 5 month time frame and had previously tested negative.  He was aware of my having hsv and did not mention it being the cause.  I was just wondering,  I do not have many visible outbreaks, so I never really thought about it until now.

I would still avoid sex until you've finished your course of treatment.

Yeah.  I just figured that out.  I finished my treatment but I think I had sex too soon.  A couple of times I could feel him hitting my cervix and I think it was agitated all over again.  So, I am being treated again.  Lesson learned.
