What is the chances of a false positive on a HSV 2 IgG test from labcorp. My wife and I have never had any kind of symptoms. I resently got a complete check and everything came back negative except a low positive for HSV 2. It was a 1.46. Could it be a false positive since it is so low. Is there other factors that could cause the antibodies to rise or increase? I recently had a flew shot, but I wouldnt think that would effect anything. This is totally surprising to me and I am not sure what to do. I am going crazy!
Any positive result under 3.5 should be suspect. If you have a positive HSV 1 result, it could cause your HSV 2 numerical result to be falsely positive. I would suggest getting retested with a different test, such as Biokit or Western Blot (the "gold standard" of herpes testing). That would hopefully sort everything out.
Good luck,
Em
