Chances of getting Oral Herpes from Kissing

What are the chances of getting Herpes (from kissing) without any visible sores? i.e. Do people often get HSV (1 or 2) by kissing someone without any visible cold sores?

If a couple kissed and they both do not have any cold sores 5 days before and 5 days after the kiss, what are chances of infection from one to the other partner assuming one is infected?

This will help a lot of us who are trying to learn more about Herpes and Cold Sores.

Hi Grace,

I get cold sores from last 2 years (twice a year on an average, on cheeks). I kissed a friend for one or two minutes when we were drunk and I am very scared if I gave her oral herpes. I did not have any symptoms present at that time, and I thought I should not worry if I don't have any symptoms. I cannot tell her my status & now I am feeling guilty. I met her (after 30 days we kissed) at a common friends place and she was angry for some reason. I did not notice any sores on her face when we met after 30 days.

Please comment, what you think are chances that she got the virus.
