Chlamydia or HSV?

Chlamydia or HSV?

Hello,

I am a 23 year old male and recently (about 6 weeks ago) I had a judgment lapse while on a business trip in Europe and I decided to have protected sex with a woman I met in Geneva. I ALWAYS use a condom as but this time when I was taking the condom off I had some issues and I believe I got some of her vaginal fluids on the tip of my penis. Long story short; after roughly ten days  I started to have the following symptoms:
• Mild burning when urinating
•Frequent urination with somewhat cloudy and foul smelling urine
•The skin on the tip of my penis directly under my urethra was red but that completely subsided by the next day
•White fluid that I noticed in my boxer-briefs after the first day of this occurring and that was the only time it occurred
•An itch that started at the opening of my urethra, which was present for a few days but has now made its way down my urethra and feels as if is 1-2" down my penis.
•The burning sensation during urination has dissipated, however the itch is still present and is periodically very noticeable.

During all of this there were no lesions, red bumps, etc.

At this point I am confident that I have caught something as it has persisted for roughly four weeks now. I have a doctor’s appointment scheduled with my doctor when I get back from this current business trip, which is early next week. However, from what I have read online it appears my symptoms are concurrent with chlamydia or NGU but I am worried that it could be something else. I would like to know if these symptoms are congruent with any other possible STD’s or infections and specifically herpes. In my readings, I have come across the possibility that HSV can infect the urethra, however this is apparently extremely rare and from what I gather incredibly painful during urination. Would you consider these symptoms to have any resemblence to HSV2 or any other possible STDs or STIs?

Thanks for reading,

Your symptoms could be due to NGU, though the exposure that you describe is quite iffy, but possible.  I would certainly recommend that you get tested when you get home or wherever you are now, and preferrably with a gram stain in addition to gonorrhea and chlamydia tests.  Remember that NGU can be caused by things other than chlamydia, and though herpes is one of them, your symptoms don't raise any red flags for me about herpes.
