. I've had cold sores since I was a child (once or twice a year, no big deal). A few yrs ago I got the HSV blood test done. I tested neg for HSV 2 and pos for HSV 1. Recently, I began a sexual
(mostly unprotected) from July 2nd - July 15. On July 16th it felt as if my vagina was on fire. I didn't see anything but the burning was inside my vagina. My vagina was very dry and had a smelly discharge
. My period came the next day and I could not get an appt at the clinic (no health insurance) until July 28. The clinician said I had lots of white blood cells and was fighting an infection. They gave me 2 antibiotics for gonorrhea and chlamydia. (Got the lab results 2 wks later and everything came out neg) He said that gonorrhea/chlamydia would NOT cause the type of burning I felt. He looked inside and said he didnt see any evidence of herpes. 4 weeks after taking the antibiotics and being treated for a later yeast infection, I still feel the itching
and burning (off and on, but very frequently). I've looked inside the opening of my vagina and seen a few little bumps. I also have lower back pain. Would I have a herpes out break for 5 weeks long?!? Why am I still feeling the burning sensation?? There is something still wrong with me vaginally, but I can't figure it out. I really think it is herpes. I'm very stressed and depressed about it. Please help.
Thank you for responding. One more thing, since I've had cold sores does that offer some type of resistance to getting herpes genitally? I'm asking because all of my friends have said " Anybody I know who had herpes was in EXTREME pain, could hardly walk and had no doubt that they had herpes." While I was in pain, and very uncomfortable, I could walk without a problem. I have abdominal cramps along with the burning. I'm sooo drained with the whole situation :-(
having hsv1 orally doesn't offer any significant protection against contracting hsv2. having hsv1 first though does take the "edge" off of a hsv2 infection and makes it "milder".
