Clear bumps on soft palate

A couple weeks ago I noticed a significant number of clear bumps covering the soft palate in the back of my mouth. The bumps are not painful, but the roof of my mouth itched a bit, and was a little sore, when they first appeared. Its been two full weeks and they're still there.

I am worried this might relate to a recent sexual encounter. I have told that the bumps could be herpes, 1 or 2 - the latter would be a new infection, the former would be a recurrent infection. But I've also been told that they could be nothing at all, or nicotine stomatitis (from a few recent cigars/cigarettes), or another virus/bacterial/fungal issue, or otherwise. I dont know what to think.

Can you help? I wish I could upload a photo, as I have so many.

Hsv2 is rarely an oral infection as it simply doesn't like the oral cavity. Two weeks without change surely doesn't suggest hsv. Hsv lesions progress quickly.
