Cold/Flu-like Symptoms and Herpes

Ok so here's my question.

I had oral sex with a guy about 2 months ago.

I now have a new partner, with whom I had sex with last weekend. The sex was protected but the oral sex was not. He has since mentioned that he has a cold/flu-like symptoms. I am worried I contracted something with the first partner and have passed it on to my new one when he performed oral sex on me. I have read that a cold could be an early symptom of herpes.

I don't have any particular symptoms myself but is this a possibility? Can the cold/flu-like symptoms alone be an indicator of herpes, or does this only come as well as the blisters etc?? I think I will get tested out next week anyway just to be sure but in the mean time I could use some reassurance!

the moment you say "cold", I can tell you it's not herpes related. Colds are not what we are referring to when we talk about flu like symptoms.

hsv1 would've been your biggest risk herpes wise from the oral sex you had 2 months ago. typically it presents with very classic symptoms and you would've had them by now.

have you and your new partner been tested for herpes? it's typically not a part of routine std testing and condoms only reduce transmission of it by about 30% on average.
