Cold Sore to Genitals

I am a 24 year old male in a long term relationship with my girlfriend. 10 days ago I had my first outbreak (to my knowledge) of Herpes in the form of a cold sore on my lip - it wasn't anything crazy. Within 7 days it was healing, no scab anymore, with maybe a slight bit of dry but new skin where it used to be. I gave my girlfriend oral sex on the 9th day. I know a mistake, a huge oversight on both of our parts because of what I had been told by those that had herpes I believed that it was only infectious while I had a sore. Anyhow, my question is simply what are the overall chances of transmission from me to her in the context of this event? I pray it is minor because I truly love her and wouldn't wish this on anyone.

Please help.

I should clarify. We're obviously not sure whether she had it or not previously, but we have been together for quite some time. I doubt she gave me herpes though.

odds are that neither you nor your partner have ever been tested for herpes before to know who has what. At this point, both of you seeking out type specific herpes igg blood tests to see who has what will help you be able to better make decisions for the future as to what precautions to take.

if your gf had hsv1and never knew it and recently transmitted it to you, odds are she isn't going to contract it genitally from you.

Should your gf develop any obvious genital symptoms in the next 2-3 weeks, she should be seen promptly and let her provider know that there's a chance she recently contracted genital herpes too.

When i was diagnosed with genital herpes my ob/gyn told me that if exposed to herpes about 80-90% of the time within the next ten days of exposure you will have your first outbreak. So there is about a twenty to ten percent chance after the tenth day that she could actually have it. You wont know for sure until she has an outbreak if she does have one. BUT if it was new skin I wouldn't think anything of it.

There was also vaginal penetration after the oral sex (protected by condom).
