Cold sore caused genital herpes?

by pmn88, Dec 18, 2007 09:20PM
I was wondering how likely it is to spread a cold sore infection to the genitals? I'm not even sure
I have herpes but I have a strong suspicion. A few months ago the corner of my mouth was burning...I thought nothing of it and just figured that I had cracked my lip...but I'm now thinking it was herpes because a few days ago I developed a very painful burning spot on my genitals, no blister, no fluid. It started as intense itching three days after I had sex with my boyfriend and became very sore and raw the next day. Did I get herpes from my boyfriend? He has never had any symptoms or cold sores. What is the chance that I spread the infection from my own lip to my own genitals if indeed that painful lip was due to a cold sore? My mom also gets cold sores but she is generally careful and we never usually share cups or utensils...did I most likely get it from her?
