Cold sores and newborns

My niece had a baby yesterday and I was at the hospital with her before and after the delivery. I also held her son
on/off and even kissed him on the next area.

This morning I woke up and look like I'm getting a cold sore on my lip. Could this be dangerous to the my nephew?

LOL....it was an entertaining typo at least :)

This really isn't a huge risk.  He is more vulnerable to everything right now but if you avoided the lips, eyes and nose area he should be fine.  Should he develop any rashes or a fever in the next 2 weeks or so he should be seen by his pediatrician and the situation explained but overall it's not likely to be an issue.  Don't kiss him anywhere now until the skin on your lip is back to normal just to err on the side of caution.

Pesky cold sores have some nerve just sneaking up like that eh?
