Cold sores from a kiss on the cheek?

Right so I know about the prevalence of HSV-1 and that it prefers mucous membranes but today my aunt came over to visit and kissed me on the cheek just in front of my ear along my jaw line.

I felt something rough and noticed she had a cold sore when she pulled back.  What are the chances of contracting coldsores from this and, if there is a risk, will I get them on my cheek where the contact was or on my mouth?

this is low risk and not worth much worrying about. the skin on the cheek isn't as vulnerable to social pecks especially not in adults.

Thanks gracefromHHP.  I know in the scheme of what other people post in this forum with it's a small query so I appreciate you taking the time to answer.

I've said it to my parents as my aunt did the same to my sister shortly afterwards.  They'll pass it on to her not to be doing it again I think.  I had a feeling it was pretty low risk but I'm still glad you confirmed it.

sometimes no one has bothered to tell someone that hey cold sores are contagious so when you have one, keep your lips to yourself. it's not easy to talk about it to some folks but it's worth doing.
