Colesore,possible transmission

I have HSV1 and 2,diagnosed about 1.5 yrs ago.
I am currently having a outbreak on my lip,and today i was drinking,and i touched the outbreak then touched the kettle,my question is i know ur not ment to do that,but it occured to me to late,as i was rushed.
even though i touched my mouth on the infected site,then an inanimate object.can other people catch it in this scenario,as there where people around at the time.and i had a cut on my hand and didnt want to go back n wipe the kettle.
please help me out,how long would it last and chances of infection to others?
