Concerned I might have genital herpes

Last week I noticed 2 tiny white head zits appear on the back side of my shaft.. they were painless not itchy or anything, and I would not have noticed them unless I looked.  My last sexual encounter was mid july, and it was protected.  I went to the doctor on sunday ( walk in clinic, not dermatologist) And she told me that she doesn't think it was any stds.  She think it may be due to sweating alot ( I run a fair amount ).  One appeared 2 days before the other, both lasted around the same amount of time 3 - 4 days, afterward leaving a tiny red spot that is clearing up ( first is completely gone )I've read online that herpes can take a few forms including tiny whiteheads zits.  What do you guys Think?

it just is negative for herpes. no way to know if you really don't have it or if you got a false negative which is why follow up and covering your bases is a good idea.

care to comment on what the culture test results mean?

My dermatologist said that it showed that the lesions were not hsv-2.

cover your bases and get your partner tested too to know her status and go from there.

it could be shingles but if you are under 50 it's more likely not to be.  valtrex doesn't work that well that you could start out with a rash and start taking it and not have it turn into a full blown ob for shingles.

should this reoccur, be seen promptly.  many skin issues can look similar to herpes.

here are my blood  test results

HSV 1 IGG type specific AB 0.31

HSV 2 IGG type specific AB 0.01

Here are my culture results.

Culture, herpes Simplex Virus with Typing source:

HSV culture:                                                              Buttock None isolated.

What my doctor told me is that they took the swab before I actually had a blister, so we took it early on in the infection and that they could not confirm it was herpes zoster.  Blisters never showed up because I started my valtrex very early on.  But she also said that it came back negative for any traces of hsv-1/2 on the culture.  She finally stated that what I had was shingles.

Care to explain the test results any further?  Do you think getting tested again is necessary? Any additional info is welcomed.

Thanks

usually herpes igg blood tests are accurate by 3 months post encounter but even the best ones still miss 1 out of every 10 hsv1 infections so the lesion culture was a good idea.

let us know what your culture shows monday when you get those results.

Ok I got my blood test results back today, both the HSv1-2 came back negative... I will get my culture results back next monday when I go in to see the doctor.

My last risky sexual encounter occurred mid July, how long does it usually take GH  to show up in my blood system?

This is my first outbreak of this nature  I have ever had.

Are these test results pretty conclusive I don't have genital herpes?

any additional information you feel like adding is welcomed.

Once again the doctor initially thought "clinically" it looked like herpes zoster

Thanks

your partner probably has never been tested to know her status. she most certainly should be properly tested to see what her herpes igg shows too.

I have had sex almost every week for the past 3 months with the same partner ( who I've been with long before that as well ).  She shows absolutely no signs/ symptoms of anything I have.  I can assure you the partner I have now does not have herpes.

The last sexual partner other then her was with someone about 3 months prior.  It was a one time thing, we had sex in the shower and it was protected, and unprotected oral sex. ( completely unsure of her sexual history, we are no longer in contact ).  And before that my last sexual encounter was over a year and a half ago.

the blood test only takes a few hours to run. depending on your doctor's office and how far their lab is, it should be back to them within a few days.  the culture can take longer.

your original symptoms certainly did not sound like herpes at all. A visual diagnosis of herpes or shingles is a reason to treat with valtrex. I'm glad your provider also did a lesion culture too to confirm. visual diagnosis can be wrong but it's good enough to treat for.

how long prior to this had you last had sex?  if you have a regular partner, have they ever been tested for herpes before?

Little update, I woke up this morning with a rash on my buttocks, with 8 lesions on it.  Its on my left side of the buttocks, there are all near eachother within circle of about 2-3 inches.  I went to the dermatologists office, and my doctor told me it "clinically" looked like herpes zosters.  She took a sample from the rash, also had me get tested for hsv-1,2.  I was wondering if grace, or anyone, could comment on this.   The doctor also asked me if I have been stressed lately, and I am going through one of the most stressful times in my life.  She gave me a prescription of valtrex and I just started taking it.  Also I am wondering How long before I get my blood results back? as well as the culture?  Does this sound more like genital herpes outbreak?  or Herpes zoster?  I fear all these things happening at once has to be genital herpes.

Thanks for your responses in advance.
