Concerned about Herpes

Hello,

I waiting for my appointment with my doctor, but since I'm waiting I have some questions about herpes and symptoms. I had protected sex with a male, but his bare penis did touch my vagina area (No penetration) also his semen did get on my vagina area, so from what I have read, I could be at risk for genital herpes. Seven days after sex, my back started hurting on the right side just underneath my rib cage. I was concern so I went to an urgent care and had them do an x-ray, gonorrhea, chlamydia and urine test. My urine test did present an extremely small amount of red blood cells, but my menstrual cycle started like two days later. My test for gonorrhea, chlamydia, x-ray and urine test (UTI) were negative. The pain in the right side of my back continued so I went to another doctor, I requested a test for syphilis and Hepatitis. The doctor also did blood work for kidney infections and stones; All tests were negative. The pain on the right side on my back still persist at this point. The pain stays in one area to the right (Not my butt and legs) and the pain has been there for 7 weeks now. I did not have any lesions or sore during this 7 week period. Three days ago I did notice a bump on the ring of my noise, I think it might be a cold sore. A few years ago I did test positive for HSV 1 and not HSV 2, so I'm not sure if the bump is related to HSV 2. I do not have any other symptoms (genital bumps, fever, flu, or pain in butt). My questions is when herpes presents back pain does it appear on the right side of your back under the rib cage? My pain is dull not sharp, is this typical of herpes? Does the back pain associated with herpes stay in one area? Can back pain be your only symptom because I know most people don't have symptoms? Again, I do not have any bumps or lesions around my vaginal area. I only have a small bump on the ring of my noise that just appeared 3 days ago and is currently clearing up. Can HSV 1 present back pain? I have no rash or headaches, so I'm not sure what's wrong with me. Does my symptoms sound typical of herpes? How long does pain back last in herpes?

The more commonly reported pains are the fever type spreading deep from the base of the spine.

Thanks for your feed back. I guess I need to do a CT scan. Would you mind describing back pain associated with Herpes?

These symptoms on their own do not appear to be herpes related. This is not quite the back pain that is associated with the fever like symptoms that can accompany an infection or the crawling sensation sometimes associated potentially with viral activity in the ganglion.

As it appears you already have HSV1 in the oral/facial location you would not expect it to arise genitally. HSV2 would be the key risk with a new infection. Even then, you'd expect your HSV1 antibodies to be quite effective and result mild symptoms.

I really doubt you will find a HSV2 infection as a result of the encounter you describe.
