Last year I tested positive for HSVII with IGG bloodwork (qualitative results). 3 weeks later I tested negative for HSVII with IGG bloodwork (<.90). One year later I had additional bloodwork done and tested positive for HSVII with IGG bloodwork. I have never had any symptoms (that I am aware of) and my two previous boyfriends tell me that they are testing negative via IGG bloodwork. I am frequently exposed to HSVII, CMV
at work. I have tested positive before for EBV. I am really have a difficult time with this conflicting information and I am very scared. I don't know what to do next. I have read that western blot testing is the gold standard and I think I should have that completed. Is there a chance that I could be negative even though two test results have come back positive?
Hello Grace
I have been attempting to receive a numeric value before you requested one, but both my doctor's office and the lab (Quest diagnostics) have told me that they test was just a qualitative one (positive or negative) and that there were no numeric results (is that possible?). Should I continue to insist they check into a numeric value? I do have an appointment with my primary
Your doctor and the lab should give you copies for your lab work if you request them. They are your results and you have the right to have copies. So my only advice, is to aks for copies of all of your lab work, the results came back both positive and negative.
Hope everything works out.
I'm guessing they did the immunoblot then and there won't be numeric results with that one.
since you've had almost all negatives and then a positive, probably worth it at this point getting the Wb if your local quest lab only does the immunoblot. Seems to be the same false positive issues with the herpeselect immunoblot as the regular herpeselect blood testing so might as well confirm your status and be done with it.

I know you suggested a WB but when I went back to the doctor and requested that it ended up that he retested with an IGG numeric test and again I came back negative (<.90). So now I have the following results
1) Positive via qulitative testing (2010)
2) Negative via numeric testing, results <.90 (2010, 3 weeks after first test)
3) Positive via qualitatie testing (2011)
4) Negative via numeric testing, results <.90 (2011, 3 weeks after positive 2011 test).
Both my gynocologist and my internal medicine doctor feel that I am in fact negative (although no one can explain the two positive bloodwork testing to me) and they have told me to let it rest and move on. I can't seem to let it go. At this point do you think it is worth pursuing a WB. I just want to be sure I know what is going on for my future partner and for my future pregnancies. If you think the chances are that I am in fact negative given the numerical test results it would put my mind at ease a bit. Thank you!
