using condoms and avoiding sex anytime you have anything going on genitally will protect a partner quite a bit. it's well worth it to stop valtrex for 2 months and get confirmatory testing - why continue to worry about herpes and treat it for a lifetime if you really don't even have it?
Thank you for your response. My fiancé continues to test negative. I've read from other dr posts that valtrex can only delay results, not reverse them. My main concern is not giving hsv to my fiancé, so stopping the valtrex without a retest isn't a viable option at this time. I don't know what type my positive test was, but my recent negative test was a herpesselect, if that matters...
no your hpv won't affect herpes test results.
has your fiance been tested to know her status?
I'd stop the valtrex for 2 months and get a herpes WB to determine your status and go from there. those are HUGE differences in results and the valtrex wouldn't change them like that so confirming your status to rule out lab error on one of your tests is a good idea!
