Confused Diagnosis-Herpes

Ms. Warren,

Here is my situation from the top: I am a heterosexual male. The only dangerous exposure causing my concern is from oral sex from a woman(s).

August 7, 2013- Receive oral sex from woman unprotected. 20 Minutes later(literally), I notice a red dot where shaft meets head of penis. First question, is this even possible to get herpes that quickly, I realize it could be a coincidence or the friction could have brought it out, but anyway this was the start for me.

The pimple remained singular for about another week and half, would fill up with white puss in the shower, and the white head would fall off by end of day, and repeat this process.  One could say my anxiety and stress levels were very high over this for that week and half, aka "catastrophizing" as you put it.

I ultimately got tested under IGG from anylabtestnow. HSV1- .06    HSV2- .17. NEGATIVE.

Ultimately, a few other red spots/sores developed on shaft, I went to dermatologist, he thought herpes. He gave me valtrex, everything was clear within a 1.5 weeks. The whole timeline was 3 weeks... August 7-30th.
January 13, 2014 (Roughly 20-21 weeks later from August 7th). I play golf saturday morning, bask in the sunlight, happily redden my face. I rush to get home, prepare for a date i had that night, which led to heavy kissing and on-clothes friction laying and excuse the term, but dry humping, over the clothes sex.

On sunday I feel a bit weird, a little achy. Monday, I wake up, a very mild red dot on frontal-right head of penis. Ok, a recurrence. Tuesday morning, I took a valtrex the next day (1g), and did so twice a day for the next 2-3 days. That same Tuesday morning, 30 minutes after taking the first valtrex (episodically, just to clarify, i am not on supressive or anything).. I took another IGG test.  HSV1- .06    HSV2-.17       NEGATIVES.
About a week later(presently), that red dot has really never materialized past that point, it is healing, and fading...

It is true that some people don't seroconvert, but it is certainly not common.  I have not experienced slow seroconverters unless the person has taken antiviral therapy.  I am not concerned about the variability of your results.

Until someone determines what "it" is, I think you're going to be in the dark.
It would be very unusual to have herpes on the shoulder and hands and back.  I just don't know what this might be.

No swabbing done of her lesions. She got 'it' (whatever 'it') is on her hands, and she previously had 'it' on her shoulder. My numbers are so low, and if you can't get herpes right away like that then it's been well over 5 months since a 'risky encounter'. Maybe I just got 'it' from her, whatever 'it' is.

I know you have mentioned that some people never seroconvert... is this really true? Do the numbers mean anything? Like would they slowly creep up over time for us 'slow sero-converters'... Like 5 months ago my hsv2 was .17, now its.1... so maybe thats a good thing?

No, you would not get herpes symptoms right away.  That doesn't fit.
I'm not sure what's going on with the testing and your partner.  Was any swab testing done of her lesions?

Well there was definitely a cluster of sores on the shaft when he saw it. Were they painful ulcers that oozed infective liquid? No. Additonally, my girlfriend at the time, not the girl I concerned I got them from, once woke up with something on her back, and her MD said it was 'herpes', whether he used that colloquialy or not I am not sure. And then supposeldy she got these same herpes on her arm a copule weeks later....

And I had thigh soreness, and tingling, and swollen lymph nodes... so all that factored in... but now I have tested negative 23 weeks later. Is it possible that HSV1 takes a really long time for seroconversion of anti-bodies?

I would be surpised wiht HSV2 since I only had sex with suspcisous parnters with condoms... and nothing ever occured on the base, its all up near the head...

Do these numbers indicate any serocoversion weirdness?

Also, what about getting herpes 20 minutes later... i mean i literally saw a red dot 20 minutes after an unsafe/unprotected oral sex

Thank you

The lesion that you describe doesn't sound like herpes to me.  Herpes lesions don't fill up with pus, then empty out then fill up again.  It just isn't like that.  I'm not sure what was different that the dermatologist saw that made him/her think it was herpes.  Did he do any swab testing?

The negative antibody tests that you have had after an appropriate time passing confirm that herpes infection for you is really unlikely.  You did not take enough Valtrex (at least from your description) to influence the testing after this amount of time.

I just really really doubt that you have herpes but I'm not sure what the dermatologist was seeing that made him think it was?

I should mention that during first episode in august, my groin lymph nodes were tender. They are not during the last week.
