12.50 is definitely not low positive -- unless a typo, e.g. if 1.250 intended. HerpeSelect norms are 1.1 positive -- although most true positives are 3.5 or higher. A value of 12.50 is sky high.
Thanks I'm retesting due to this and all she said over the phone was that it was a low positive and repeat on 6 months
Couldn't tell from original post that first line is HSV1. You wrote hsv only. If that was indeed HSV1, you clearly don't have it.
I can't say anything about someone who said your reading was below 0.9. How did she explain the 12.50 number? I suggest you clarify once and for all with the doctor's office. But from what you have posted, you have a strongly positive result for HSV2, so I stand by my original reply above.
I'm confused because she told me my reading was low a 0.90 and so I assumed the 12.50 was something else
The first line is hsv1 select 0.09 <=0.90
I guess the dr tested 3 months prior and negative she said I have had no symptoms at all. Could being on antibiotics and few surgeries give me false Resault and from a weekend immune system.
The first line shows what the normal result is, i.e. below 0.90 Line 2 shows your HSV2 IgG result is very high at 12.50. H stands for high, then it repeats what the normal level (negative is). Your HSV 1 and 2 IgM result is slightly high, but probably meaningless.
Bottom line: You are infected with HSV2. Whether or not you have had symptoms of genital herpes, you can safely assume you have it; could have outbreaks in the future; and probably can transmit it sexually to susceptible partners, i.e. those not previously infected with HSV2.
You have not listed an HSV1 IgG result, can't say anything about that part.
In theory, the positive IgM result could mean your HSV2 infection was recently acquired. But IgM testing is notoriously unreliable -- you really can't tell anything useful from it. Perhaps you caught HSV2 recently, but you could have had it for years.
I hope this has helped. Best wishes.
