Hello, I am a 37 year old male. In Oct of 2013, while in South America for job i met a woman my age. Our relationship became serious. We were together for 10 months. During this time we practiced unprotected sex ( no condoms) regularly. She was on birth control..
I had to return back home in Sep of 2014 and met her once again in Jun of 2015 when came for a visit . I had not have any sexual contact with anybody during this 9 months away from her. She says the same thing about herself.
After 10 days together and having sex on daily basis I have developed an itch and discomfort on my genitals, on penile shaft area and next 2 days itching became stronger and some redness visible. Thought it was an irritation from rubbing of dry skin and sand( we were on coast for a week) at first. Over the following 5 days some blister / ulcer type of openings developed on shaft of penis closer to the head around the circumference, mostly on the bottom and the sides. About 10 of them in total which did not develop simultaneously. At the moment half of them have dried off and closed while the latest ones are open and itch and give out occasional light pain. It has been a week since I left and since first symptoms.
She said she had Varicella as a child and Oral Herpes in late teens
While my symptoms do resemble Genital Herpes HSV-2, I am somewhat confused. Assuming she is telling the truth about not being sexually active during time of my absence ( i DO believe her) and myself not having contracted anything during our 10 months unprotected sexual relationship when i first met her is it possible to catch Herpes only after 10 days together on second encounter ?
Thank you very much for clearing things up for me and your time...
Also, I did spend 3 weeks backpack travelling prior meeting her. Staying in hostels, really cheap hotels and camping ( with all the not so sanitary and overcrowded conditions that come with it)
The woman works in ER of small clinic as general doctor.
