Confused

Hello,
For the past month I have been very confused by my test results and my doctors don't seem to have an answer for me.  
I am positive for hsv 1 orally, I have had hsv 1 since I was a young child.  My test results have always shown a positive hsv 1 and negative hsv 2.  about one month ago I noticed a small red spot on my clitoris and went to the doctor the next day.  She cultured it and did a blood test to see if it was a herpes outbreak.  The culture came back negative for herpes but my blood test came back with a positive IGM and well as the positive IGG (due to my longterm hsv 1)  because of this the doctor claimed that she thought the red spot was a herpes outbreak but wasn't 100% sure.  I would like to add that about 3-4 weeks prior to the blood test being done I had an hsv 1 outbreak on my mouth.  After my doctor said that my red spot was a hsv1 outbreak genitally i decided to get a second opinion.  The second doctor just like the first one said that the red spot I had did not look at all like a herpes legion and that she didn't think it was herpes but that i should come back in 4-6 weeks to retest my blood to see if the IGM was still positive.  She now called me today and says that again due to the positive IGM results it is possible the red spot was an outbreak.  I am now confused because I have read on this site that the IGM test can give a false positive because of my recent oral outbreak.  Both doctors have now told me that they basically don't have a 100% accurate answer to give me.  I would like to know because if there is a chance that this could have been herpes I would like to tell my partner and give him accurate information.  Also just to note the red spot barely hurt when i had it and is now gone.
Any insight would help please!  Im going crazy with this!

the igm test for herpes is very flawed and should've never been drawn. plenty of posts by all 3 herpes experts on medhelp as to why it's a crap test.

are you getting type specific herpes igg blood tests done or combined tests that they are telling you they are + due to your hsv1?

I was tested in late July for for hsv 1 and hsv 2.  hsv 1 was positive and hsv 2 was negative as it has always been.  I was retested at the begining of Oct due to the red spot and again igg was positive for hsv 1 and negative for hsv 2 but my igm was also positive this time.

it's likely the igm was a false positive.
has your partner been tested yet?\

my partner was tested in August and is positive for hsv 1 and negative for hsv 2 just like I am but he has never had any outbreaks so is not sure if he has hsv 1 genitally or oral.  Is it possible for the igm to be positive if i have contraced hsv 1 genitally?  or does it just show positive if you have contracted the other simplex?!  This whole thing is so frustrating!  Thank you again for your responses!

this is almost assuredly a false positive igm . one more example of why it's more trouble than it's worth and shouldn't be used for the purpose of diagnosing herpes. providers really should read up on it and stop ordering it on adults.

your partner's hsv1 is almost guaranteed to be oral.
