Confused

I know that contracting hsv 1 in both locations is rare, but if you were acquire it in both locations (genital & oral), would you experience a primary outbreak in both locations?

I.e, if you had a genital outbreak would you also experience an oral primary outbreak if you indeed contracted it in both places?

You are no different to over 2 billion women in the world with oral HSV1!

You contracted the virus in your youth, probably before living memory. You may have had an outbreak at that time and nothing for many, many years.

Given that, your body built an immune system meaning it is not practically possible to be infected genitally.

This fact is the one that essentially proves you do not have genital HSV1, not the absence of symptoms, which simply supports this.

Wow, thank you for your advice Fleetwood20! You have helped me make sense of all this. Could i ask you one last question?

Like I said before, i've only had oral symptoms.. So if i would of contracted oral and genital hsv 1 at the same time, I would of had symptoms by now correct?

It's been 2 & a half years and i've only had oral symptoms, so i'm assuming I would of had genital symptoms by now if i've been displaying oral ones.

Over 70% of the population have an oral HSV1 infection with the majority of these contracting the virus in their youth.

You can only realistically be infected in both locations if infected at the same time. For genital herpes, you need sexual contact.

Hence you are extremely unlikely to have genital HSV1. Most adults infected genitally with HSV1 as a primary infection experience symptoms, and not mild ones.

You are no different to 70% of the population, oral HSV1 only!

If i've had what i believe to be two herpes lesions underneath my nose, but no genital symptoms, can i conclude that i do not have hsv 1 genitally?

I tested positive for hsv 1 two & a half years ago with a value greater than 8.0. Like i said before, i've had two oral symptoms (cluster of blisters underneath my nose in the same region), but never had a genital outbreak. Im thinking I would of had a genital outbreak by now, correct? Sorry, the internet is just filled with conflicting information. Several sites say that you experience symptoms within 2-14 days and that majority of people show symptoms. While some sites say it could be years. I'm just really confused.

Yes a primary outbreak at the same time, lesions in particular on genitals and lips.

As in a primary outbreak in both places at the same time, correct?

Thank you for answering my questions!

Yes, there is a primary outbreak in both locations. With no antibodies in the body, the virus causes multiple lesion patches that take some time to heal.
