I was diagnosed by my doctor with Herpes by an IGG test.. she told me that the IGG indicated a recent exposure, I have read here is not like that, but i cant really get a strait answer on what exactly does that mean then. I have never had and outbreak or any lissions or anything, I found out about it cause i screen myself at least 2 times a year for all std's. the IGM tst was negative but the IGG was positive a 2.3 on the IGG was what the test showed. can someone please explain to me exactly what does the IGG stands for. and why havent I had an outbreak or any symptoms.
thank you for your time.
The igg is the longer term , permanent antibodies. Igm is the shorter term antibodies. The igm test for herpes is a poor test and should never be drawn again on you.
A 2.3 igg is a low positive and needs confirmed with additional testing. A hsv2 biokit igg or a herpes WB would be the 2 best tests to chose from for doing so.
Have you had any partners since the last time you got tested? If so have they been tested for herpes?
yes my wife has been tested and she showed negative in everything. and again I have not had an outbreak or anything that would indicate that i do have it, but it came up like that twise.. 2.1, 2.3 on the igg. still confused on what is really going on.
