Constant itching - What is it?

B46
I've been having pretty constant vaginal itching (and sometimes anal) for several years now. The itching gets particularly bad at night and terrible around the time of my period. If I scratch too much, the area also gets painful. All my paps have come back normal and I recently went to get a herpes blood test. I was positive for HSV 1. Previously, I dated a guy who would perform oral sex on me, but we would always try not to do this when he was having an oral HSV 1 outbreak. Basically, I can't think what else is causing my symptoms. Could this constant itching be caused by a genital HSV 1 infection?

this isn't due to herpes.

You should be following up on this with your gyn. If they can't get to the bottom of it - see a dermatologist.
