Constant pain and itching-Still Worried.....

Hello Grace,

From my previous question I am still not sure if, in fact, I experienced a GH outbreak.
As I stated above, I have had GH for the past 23 years and the OB's have really gotten farther and farther apart.
I have just a few questions.

1-I have been experiencing vagianl pain, soreness, and itching.  The sensations seem to go from one area to the next.
At first I thought it was an OB but this has gone on for several weeks and I didn't think this was the normal pattern.
I have checked for yeast and bacterial infections and they are negative.  I also checked my hormone levels, but they
were fine.  Could this be a true GH prodrome or OB lasting this long.  As I stated earlier I am on Valtrex 1g daily.
It is also very strange that the symptoms seem to be better in the morning after sleep and get worse as the day goes on.

2-If my partner become infected with GH, would his symptoms be less severe since I am on the suppressive therapy?

Thank you.

clue cells means that you have bv going on. since you've been having symptoms, treating it would've been the better idea.

no need to wash your genital area more frequently. soap can dry things out too. Only wash once a day during your daily washing up.

I definitely would use a barrier cream ( desitin, vaseline, a&d etc ) for now on the red areas.  Give your provider a call and ask why if you showed signs of bv you weren't treated for it too.

Thank you so much with your prompt respones.  Sorry about the posting error, I will try to do better.

I had a wet prep about 2 weeks ago. The nurse told me that it showed a few clue cells but no WBC's.  I assume this did not need treatment.

The hormone level was not addressed at that time, but from a phone call I was told to have these levels checked.  If estrogen is depleated from the genital area would that cause the area to be dry and red along with my other symptoms?  I am confused on using a lubricant to help the irritation.  I keep the area washed very frequently, which may be causing further irritation, but with GH I wanted to keep the area clean and dry.
However, I have briefly used a lubricant and that seemed to help for a little while. I was just confused on which was the right thing to do.

I think I am just having mental anxiety over the GH and this fairly recent onset on vaginal symptoms.  I have gone so long between OB's that I am worried that I will miss early signs and symptoms of one. I have even been taking extra Valtrex!  I am so red and irritated right now that I probably would not know the difference!

Thanks again, I appreciate your responses.

P.S. Did you have a comment about symptoms seeming worse as the day progresses?
In the mornings I wake up and think that it will be better, but it always seems to be just as bad as the day before.  I this crazy or what?!!

in our posting tips we ask that folks keep their questions all in the same thread. Saves us from having to go look up prior threads before responding. thanks!

1- not likely to be herpes all this time.  How were you screened for vaginitis?  also testing for hormone levels doesn't always help so much - you can have a normal circulating blood estrogen level and still not have enough estrogen getting to the genital tissue ( topical estrogen helps when this is an issue ).

2- only time would tell how your partner's experiences with hsv2 should be if he contracts it from you. The valtrex and transmission study showed that partners who contracted hsv2 from a partner who was on suppressive therapy tended to be more asymptomatic with their infections but they didn't do any long term follow up to see how long that remained the case or anything.
