Consulted w/ a physician

I talked with a physician today about my recent positive HSV1 test and he told me not to be worried about having the virus. He let me know that since I am asymptomatic I am essentially just a carrier of the virus and I shouldnt be worried about transferring the virus to future partners. Unless of course I develop lesions. He was very cavalier about the whole issue. He said I dont need to warn anyone before intercourse and to continue my life. This was very shocking to me considering everything i've read on the internet suggest otherwise.

Ok. Like I said it's most probably a long standing oral infection. Most newly acquired hsv1 infections of the genitals have a nasty primary outbreak.

First off how were diagnosed and if it was from an igg blood test what was the numeric value of the positive test?
While I agree having hsv1 is not a big deal and most of the population has it. I totally disagree that you are just a carrier and can not ever pass it on. The chances are very low if you do not have a cold sore (I am assuming this is most probably a long standing oral infection from your youth). The virus will she'd from time to time even though no symptoms are present. Again don't stress it is very common and nothing to be overly concerned with. I would just be honest with future partners and relationships. Most likely they have hsv1 as well. Just avoid kissing or oral sex when or if you get a cold sore. That's it.

Please let me know the test results. This is important.
I hope this helps
