Could I catch Herpes Whitlow but not oral herpes from oral sex?

I had oral sex with a girl and also fingered her.  About 10 days later I got a pimple or blister on the base of my fingernail. I popped it thinking it was a pimple but not I got another one on the same finger. It does look similiar to pictures of Herpes Whitlow except its only one blister not several and I have no pain, no tingling or no itching.  Is it possible that I contracted Herpes Whitlow but not any oral herpes since I have not had any symptoms on my mouth?

Yes it's too late for a lesion culture for herpes on this.  If it's still there, follow up on it with your provider or consult a dermatologist.

My provider said it was paronychia but it never improved and the culture test came back negative on bacterial infection and it never responded to the antibiotics he prescribed.  Is it too late to have it tested for Herpes?

Everyone I know who's had whitlow says it hurts like a sob!

You should be following up on this with your provider. If they suspect herpes, they should be culturing it for herpes, not just a visual diagnosis in this day and age.
