Could I get Herpes?

Dear Doctor,

I had sex with a prostitute in Berlin. I always wore protection during oral sex and vaginal sex. During the session, I rubbed her vagina and then I mistakenly placed the finger with which I had rubbed her vagina on the head of my exposed penis for a few seconds. She also rode me and I am worried that her vaginal may have touched the base of my penis which was not covered with the condom. I am sure that the condom did not break as my penis completely dry as I did not ejaculate inside the condom.

I also sucked on her nipples and she sucked on mine.

It has been about a week since my exposure. Recently I started to have some pain in my penis. However the pain always arises 10-15 minutes before I have to urinate and then the pain completely stops after I urinate. I also then had slight diarrhea for a day. However I had pain in my penis like this before for many years and I had a heavy fatty lunch on the day I got the diarrhea.

Is there any any possibility for me to get Herpes? I am thinking of getting into a relationship and I want to be completely sure that my partner would be safe.

Thanks for your help.

I agree with your dermatologist that this is most likely not related in any way to herpes.

Dear Terri,

This will be my last post. I promise to stop troubling you after this.

I noticed today some very small red bumps in both of my inner thighs. I have no sores or lesions on my penis or genitals.

The bumps are slightly painful and dont itch.

I showed it to a dermatologist and he said that it was not Herpes and was only due to sweating and my workout. He told me to apply some cream on the area.

Could this be Herpes? If I apply the cream the doctor gave me and the bumps go away, does it rule out Herpes?

Thanks a lot. I really appreciate you helping me out on this.

No, I don't think this could be breast cancer.  I think it is more likely that this is from a breast/nipple irritation as your own doctor suggested.

Dear Terri,

Sorry I meant to say I am over 22. Do you think it could be breast cancer?

Thanks and sorry if I am being irritating.

You are more than 2, I think that was a typo.  If you are still concerned, you could go to see an gyn person.

Dear Terri

Thanks for your post. I went to see a dermatologist who is also an expert on VD and I told him all about my recent sexual exposure. He checked my nipple and I think he was unsure but he told me that I had slight abrasions on my nipple as I might have scraped my nipple somewhere. He gave me an antibiotic and a topical antibiotic cream.

There were no blisters. Should I be concerned about this? I am only 2 but could this be breast cancer? I am a little fat.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Blood coming out of your nipples is not normal.  Are you sure about that?  Are there any blisters on the nipple?  I think that should be evaluated by a professional if indeed you are having blood coming out of your nipple.

Dear Terri,

Thanks for your post. It was great help indeed!

I have been having a little soreness on my left nipple for the last 3 days. As you know the sex worker who I had sex with had sucked my nipple.

Today, when I was wearing my shirt, I felt a needle pricking my nipple (which ofcourse wasnt there) and then I saw 2-3 drops of blood come out of nipple and it stopped soon after. I did not see any pus or anything like that.

Could this be a symptom of Herpes? I have not seen any sores develop.

Nowdays, I am also urinating quite frequently.

I really appreciate your help.

Thanks

I think your risk of acquiring herpes in this situation is very low indeed.  The mild symptoms that you are having do no sound like herpes, either.

Whether you are a risk to a partner or not is really a different question.  Since 80-90% of those infected with genital herpes don't know it, this could be the case with you if you've had other partners in your lifetime.  The best way to know for sure is to have a herpes antibody tests, called an IgG antibody test.  If you take a test now, it will not reflect the "input" of this most recent prostitute contact, but since this contact is very low risk, if your test is negative, I think you can be quite reassured that you are not infected.
