Could I have a false positive HSV-2 result?

Hi, I recently got a blood work done as part of my annual physical and found out I tested positive for HSV-2.  The results of the IGG tests were as follows:

HSV-1:  0.31
HSV-2:  2.41

My doctor asked me to get retested in 3 months to ensure it is indeed a positive test.  What are the chances of this being a false positive?

You can confirm it sooner than 3 months from now. Ask your provider about getting a herpes WB blood test.

if you have a regular partner, they too should be tested.
