Could it be herpes?

Three days ago I had protected vaginal and unprotected oral sex with a woman. I had shaved my genital area (something I've only done a few times before) 4 days before. I believe I may have put the condom on inside out (causing the lubricated side to be facing in).  I'm not sure if I have a latex allergy but I do have every sensitive skin.

After the encounter, I was worried about STDs so I cleaned my genitals with soap and hydrogen peroxide vigorously. My genitals were itchy because my pubic hair was beginning to grow in and I scratched and scrubbed it hard enough that it got irritated.

About 48 hours after my encounter, I noticed small white bumps (like pimples) on the bottom of my penis along the base and pretty regularly spread along the bottom up towards the head (which more near the base near the testicles and some areas where there were no bumps). I began to worry that it is herpes.

The bumps weren't particularly itchy except mildly at the base, My penis burned very slightly (although that was probably do to the irritation from constantly examining and cleaning it - I've had irritation before even just from masturbating too much).

Look for pictures of herpes, it doesn't seem to resemble it yet as my bumps are pretty evenly spaced (not clustered) and they are smaller and not as raised as the pics. And they don't ooze either. They look almost exactly like those in the picture on this page: http://www.************.com/articles/Pimple_like_Bumps_on_Penis_and_Testicles_a554.html

I also just noticed is that each bump is associated with a hair follicle. Even if I can barely see the hair, if I pull lightly with my fingers every place there is a bump, I can grab a hair and "pull" the bump up. No bumps appear on the shaft of my penis where there are no hair follicles (such as on the top of the shaft). Does herpes infect along hair follicles like that?
If I caught it how soon till I test positive? What are transmission rates for herpes?

Hello ther terri,
I have been reading a few forums with yrou answers on them. I have recently will about 2 months ago got  a bump on the head of my penis. I squezzed it and out came liquid like a pimple. It looked like a pimplk from day one. Then afterwards it jsut dried up. like a normal pimple would... Now i still have a red dot .. its no bump anymore. on the penis head.
Sometime i can see it and sometimes i cannot.
to me its not a blister. seemed liek pimple... is this normal?
i have not been checked yet, as i am really terrified..about it.
hope you can help me out to at least figure it out before i go to the clinic..

Thanka. I did have it checked out by a doctor and they say that it is very unlikely that it is herpes although they tested it anyways. She said that it looked like irritation (probably follicitus) caused by shaving and other things I put on it (neosporin, soap, etc). I haven't gotten the results of the herpes culture back yet but I'm not too worried anymore.

I think what's happening is that you are noticing hair follicles, do you think that is possible?  Sometimes, when people have a risky sexual  encounter or one that makes them feel a little uncomfortable, they start noticing lots of things that they might not have noticed before.  But they symptoms aren't STD's.  I can't tell you that you don't have an STD, but it seems unlikely given everything.

Herpes doesn't normally occur on hair follicles, no.  If you contracted herpes at this sexual encounter, you would positive by antibody test anywhere from 2 weeks to 4 months later, people take varying amounts of time to make antibody.  Transmission rates vary by length of time infected, gender, sexual practices and medicine used.

Ive noticed that too with my bumps. There just bumps not blisters and there is a hair follicle in all of my bumps too. I was wondering the same thing. Let me know if you get any feed back. Hit my inbox because i might not know how to reach this post again thanks
